There are various types
of manual tools, used for different purposes. These tools have
very simple mechanisms and easy to work with. They not only
help us in our work but also make it simple. For example if
you are pulling out water from a deep well, you would have to
work against the gravity to raise it. That needs quite a bit
of energy. But with the use of a simple pulley the work can be
reduced to a great extent.
These manual tools are
usually operated by electricity, some are battery operated,
some run on gas, and some use only the human force. Some of
these tools are used for particular tasks and other have a
wide range of uses. The manual tools come in different shapes
and sizes to meet the specific requirements.
Such as the
screwdrivers, which is one of the most important and common
manual tools in a tool kit. These screwdrivers have specific
heads for particular screw heads, like slotted, square,
Phillips crosshead, Pozidriv, hex, tri-wing, Triple Square,
spanner head, double hex, Bristol, polydrive, and spline drive
are some of them. Each of the screwdrivers is used for one
type of screw head. Today's tool kit does not contain all
these screwdrivers individually, it has one screw driver
handle and multiple screw heads. The screw heads can be
changed accordingly.
The manual tools can be
categorized under several heads, such as,
-Driving and chopping
tools, such as mauls, hammers, screwdriver, sledges, bits,
axe, and other chopping tools.
-Cutting and smoothing
tools, such as brush-cutting tools, chisels, saws, files,
planes, rasps, and other cutting tools.
-Drilling, boring and
anti-sinking tools for leveling measuring, and laying out

plumb-lines, and squares.

handling tools such as digging tools, posthole diggers,
pickaxes and mattocks.

tools such as electric tool trailer along with generator, and
portable power tools
-Miscellaneous
tools which covers several manual tools, as these are all
operated by the hands. Several of the power tools get the
power supply from generators but mostly it is controlled and
operated by the hand. For example, a high speed drill is
a power tool, but it needs someone to operate it.
Some of the
common manual tools used are screwdrivers, bolt croppers and
cutters, caulking guns, aviation shears, files and file
handles, cutting mats, hammers and mallets, bradawls,
nibblers, heating tool sets, multi - tools, nippers,
